It’s been a month now, and quite a few more hours, and I’m still playing Elden Ring. I’ve recently hit two achievements of note:
- I have passed 100 levels,
- I got to the base of the Erdtree… and realised that the way is impassable.

My play style remains the same as always, which is to stay at as much distance from the bad guys as I can and use sorceries to chip away. Since getting further into the game, I’ve discovered the Comet spell and the magic arrow spell. Both of these have hugely increased my range.
So, I’ve focused on increasing my Intelligence and begrudgingly increasing my Vigor. I dipped into Endurance in an attempt to get to a low equipment weight, but realised that’s not going to happen. So now, I just wear the heaviest gear I can wear without going into heavy. As Comet and the arrow spell are so expensive, I had to start adding to Mind too.
There is an issue now that I need quite a lot of room to fight. That’s not great for the dungeons, which are usually fighting in just one room. To help with that I’ve been using the headless person summon, who seems pretty good at chasing down and tanking.
I’m still eager to finish up this run of the game and start again but with a melee character. I feel I’m missing much of the game just using my sniper spells. There are dozens of greasing in my inventory to go on weapons, which I’ve not used a single one of. I’m collecting loads of weapons too. They all look interesting and I can’t even equip them.

So I get to the Erdtree and oh boy is there still lots of the game left.
The game has jumped up in difficulty and I think that level 100 isn’t really the end game. There’s probably dozens more levels needed before I can confidently make my way through this new area of the map.
Play continues.
